Girl Meets Glam: A Hollywood-Inspired Birthday Party

This past Saturday, my baby turned four! I can hardly believe it, but when I look back on these incredible birthday pics, I can’t deny it…she’s SO grown up!

It used to be that I would come up with a theme for the girls’ parties and just run with it. Well, not anymore. My girls are now very aware of what a birthday party is and want to be involved in the process. So when I realized A’s* birthday was just a few months out, I asked her what kind of party she wanted and gave her a few options from my Pinterest boards.

Almost without hesitation, she picked the “movie” theme. So I did what I do best…I added the glitter. Instead of a plain movie party, we’d have a Hollywood Glam soiree! And so the planning started…

First, we designed a custom birthday invitation to set the tone.

I knew I wanted to keep things kid-friendly so I chose to go with bright colors like red and yellow with pops of silver and gold. But to glam things up, I was determined to have a red carpet complete with props – boas for the girls and top hats and canes for the boys.

The table was set with popcorn-inspired flower arrangements {props to my dear friend Jessica!} and the kids would enjoy star-shaped pizza for lunch.

After lunch and birthday cupcakes, it was movie-time. RIO was the film of the day {a great pick for both kids and their parents!}, but no movie is complete without popcorn and candy! We created a smorgasbord of theatre-style treats to include two different kinds of popcorn and a variety of candies to appease every appetite.

One of my favorite details from the party were the custom, vintage-inspired popcorn, candy and drink labels my talented partner in crime, Stacey created. I have attached them here as a free printable for you to use and enjoy.

At the end of the party, kids took home popcorn favor boxes filled with fun movie-themed treats!

All-in, I’d say the party was a huge success! And no one better to judge than our happy little big four-year-old! Happy Birthday you!
